Dr. Kushlan’s writings on natural and human history in southern Florida have provided accessible accounts of stories of man’s relationship with nature in the region, where so much has been lost and changed.
Dr. Kushlan books revealed the history of historically important sites and national parks. A particular contribution was to place in historical context the stories of how southern Florida’s natural history emerged. His books on public and private gardens in southern Florida provide insight and guidance on enhancing the regional landscape for birds, elucidating approaches different from the rest of North America.
